No. 5/7 Women’s Basketball's second-half spurt leads to 70-61 victory over Missouri

Texas outscores Missouri 19-10 in third quarter en route to Thursday's win.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 5/7 Texas women's basketball team held Missouri to 36.4 percent shooting in the second half to rally for a 70-61 victory over the Tigers at Moody Center on Thursday.
Rori Harmon recorded a season high of ten assists and tied her season high of six rebounds.
Three Longhorns scored in double digits with Taylor Jones leading with 17 points and six rebounds. Madison Booker followed behind her with 16 points with six rebounds. Mwenentanda tallied another ten points for Texas.
The Longhorns outrebounded the Tigers 38-25 to secure 11 second chance points, only allowing four for the Tigers. Texas shot 15-of-18 (83.3%) from the free throw line to add 15 points to the board.
Texas started the game forcing two Missouri turnovers in the opening two minutes. Jones then connected on a pair of free-throws to finish the first quarter trailing 20-13.
After scoring nine points in the first, Jones opened the second quarter with a layup assisted by Bryanna Preston. With a three-pointer from Lee, Texas then went on a 10-0 run in just under three minutes to finish the half trailing 35-33.
The Longhorns came back at the half with seven points from Booker to take the lead. Texas forced three straight turnovers and held Missouri to an over two-minute scoring drought to finish the third quarter up 52-45.
Booker opened the final quarter with a jumper to stay above the Tigers. Leading 62-57 with 2:59 to play, Shay Holle drained a 3-point to put Texas up eight points, 67-59 with 2:17 remaining in regulation.
Up next the Longhorns travel to College Station, Texas to face Texas A&M in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 5:00 PM CT. This game will be televised on SEC Network.
