Four Longhorns scored double digits in the win.
AUSTIN, Texas – Justice Carlton led Texas with 25 points as the Longhorns came away with an 102-44 win over Lubbock Christian on Thursday at Moody Center.
Sophomore Justice Carlton, one of the four players to hit double digits in scoring, started the exhibition game against Lubbock Christian with a jumper. The other players to reach double digits were Kyla Oldacre, Breya Cunningham and Teya Sidberry. Texas trapped the Lady Chaps in a scoring drought for 3:31 minutes, ending the first quarter with a ten-point lead.
Carlton led the team scoring with a double-double, notching 25 points and 10 rebounds. Oldacre posted 21 points and nine rebounds in the victory. Newcomers Cunningham and Sidberry combined for 20 points and 12 rebounds.
In the opening quarter of the game, Carlton totaled 12 points along with four rebounds to put the Longhorns in front at 24-12. Texas grabbed 12 rebounds while limiting the Lady Chaps to two.
The Longhorns closed out the first half with a lead of 54-20, with Carlton leading the team with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Texas continued to hold the Lady Chaps at 24 points six minutes into the third period, finishing the quarter with 30 points while limiting their opponent to six points.
Ten seconds into the final period, freshman Aaliyah Crump sank a three-pointer. Crump finished the final quarter with six points and four rebounds.
Up next Texas will play its second exhibition game against Texas Woman's University on Monday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. CT.
