Cranford places third in women’s 1-meter final at Texas Diving Invitational

Texas posts two top-six finishes in the 1-meter final.
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas junior Bayleigh Cranford delivered a third-place finish in the women's 1-meter final on Friday to highlight Day 2 of the Texas Diving Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Cranford advanced to the championship round after placing sixth in prelims with a 279.95, joining fellow junior Caroline Kupka, who qualified fourth with a 282.15.
In the final, Cranford climbed three spots to finish third overall with a score of 298.40, closing less than 22 points behind event winner Chiara Pellacani (320.25) and runner-up Emma Gullstrand (303.00). Her performance was anchored by steady scoring across her six-dive list, highlighted by a 55.50 on her reverse 2½ somersault tuck (305C), her top dive of the round.
She opened with a 50.40 on her inward 1½ somersault pike (403B) and added marks of 48.30 (203B), 46.80 (105B), 48.00 (303B), and 49.40 (5333D) to remain in podium contention throughout.
Kupka finished sixth overall with a 279.70, completing a strong two-round performance after advancing from prelims inside the top four.
Texas had four divers in the morning session, with senior Sarah Carruthers placing 15th (249.55) and junior Amanda Stalfort finishing 16th (247.70).
The Texas Diving Invitational continues Saturday with women's platform at 10 a.m.
