Texas secures overall title after second-place men’s finish at Texas Diving Invitational

Jones takes seventh on platform to close three-day competition.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Longhorns finished second in the men's championship team award with 89 points and helped contribute to the 191 combined points to secure the overall award on Saturday, led by sophomore Jacob Jones' seventh-place finish in the men's platform final at the Texas Diving Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Jones delivered a steady six-dive list to post a 325.50, highlighted by a strong opening round. He opened with a 67.20 on his forward 3½ somersault pike (107B), his highest-scoring dive of the day, before adding a 57.00 on his back 2½ somersault 1½ twist pike (5253B) to remain in early contention.
His middle rounds included a 46.20 on his reverse 2½ somersault tuck (305C) and a 40.80 on his armstand forward 2 somersault pike (614B). Jones closed his list from 5 meters, scoring 55.80 on his inward 2½ somersault tuck (405C) and finishing with a 58.50 on his back 2½ somersault tuck (205C) to earn seventh place.
Texas concluded the three-day invitational with multiple individual top finishes across springboard and platform events.
