Texas wins women’s and overall team titles at Texas Diving Invitational

Carruthers takes runner-up on platform to close three-day competition.
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas secured both the women's team title and the overall team championship on Saturday, led by senior Sarah Carruthers' second-place finish in the women's platform final to close out the Texas Diving Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Carruthers delivered a steady and well-executed five-dive list to post a 275.50, securing the runner-up spot with strong scoring in the later rounds. She opened with a 39.15 on her forward 3½ somersault tuck (107C) before gaining momentum on her inward 3½ somersault tuck (407C), earning 49.60 to move into contention.
Her middle dives elevated her further. Carruthers recorded a 47.85 on her back 2½ somersault pike (205B), followed by a standout 63.00 on her reverse 2½ somersault tuck (305C), receiving marks as high as 8.0. She closed with her highest-scoring dive of the day, a back 1½ somersault 3½ twist free (5237D), earning 75.90 to secure her second-place finish.
Texas junior Bayleigh Cranford finished eighth with a 214.80. Her best dive came in the fourth round, where she scored 54.00 on her back 2½ somersault tuck (205C).
Texas totaled 102 points to win the women's championship team award and 191 combined points to claim the overall award, closing the three-day invitational with multiple individual top finishes.
