No. 1 Men’s Swimming sets pool record in 200 medley relay at Texas Invitational

Will Modglin’s historic 20.00 lead-off sparks pool-record 200 medley relay win.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 1 Texas Men's Swimming program opened the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invite with a pool record in the 200 medley relay, a deep showing in the 1650 freestyle and a closing victory in the 800 free relay on Tuesday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Texas set the tone early in the 200 medley relay, as Will Modglin, Nate Germonprez, Kyle Peck and Garrett Gould posted a pool-record 1:21.11. Modglin led off in a 20.00, the fastest 50 backstroke ever recorded in short-course yards.
The Longhorns then packed the top of the standings in the 1650 freestyle, claiming four of the top five spots with David Enyeart (1st, 14:53.38), Aiden Hammer (2nd, 14:53.58), Manning Haskal (4th, 14:59.05) and Sasha Lyubavskiy (5th, 15:04.49).
Texas closed Day 1 with a decisive win in the 800 free relay, as Rex Maurer, Camden Taylor, Baylor Nelson and Jacob Wimberly clocked in for a 6:10.71.
The Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational will continue Wednesday, Nov. 19, with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
