Women’s Basketball’s Booker and Harmon named to Wooden Award Watch List

Texas duo on watch list for national player of the year award.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Two-time First Team All-American and 2025 SEC Player of the Year Madison Booker and three-time All-America honorable mention honoree Rori Harmon have been named to the John R. Wooden Award Watch List, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Tuesday.
Booker was named a Wooden Award All-American and among the five finalists for the Wooden Award following the 2024-25 season. Harmon makes her third appearance on the Wooden Award watch list. The players on this list are considered strong candidates for the 2026 John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year.
This season through four games Booker is averaging 16.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.8 steals per game. Booker is shooting 59.5 percent from the field.
Booker had a stellar sophomore season at Texas as she earned First Team All-America honors from the Associated Press and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She was the SEC Player of the Year and for the second time earned the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award. Booker was a finalist for the Wade Trophy and Wooden Award, recognitions for the national player of the year. Booker averaged 16.3 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field, 40.3 percent from 3-point range and 82.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Rori Harmon became the first player in Texas women's basketball history to reach 1,200 points and 700 assists and earned All-America honorable mention honors from the AP and Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Harmon was a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year award and a semifinalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award. Harmon ranks second all-time at Texas in career assists with 751 and is 26 assists away from setting the program record. Harmon is also in the top-10 in Texas women's basketball history in career steals with 289.
The Longhorns are coming off a season in which they won 35 game to set a program record for wins in the NCAA Era. The team advanced to the Final Four for the first time in 22 years and earned a SEC regular season championship in their first season in the conference.
