No. 2 Women’s Swimming claims 1–2 finish in the 1650 free to start Texas Invitational

Jillian Cox and Kate Hurst pace the Longhorns with a 1–2 finish in the 1650 free, supported by strong 200 medley and 800 free relay performances.
AUSTIN, Texas — No. 2 Texas Women's Swimming opened the Texas Invitational on Tuesday with a commanding 1–2 performance in the 1650 free, a runner-up finish in the 200 medley relay and a third-place result in the 800 free relay at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
The 1650 free served as the Longhorns' strongest event of the session. Jillian Cox won the race in 15:41.70, and Kate Hurst secured second in 15:59.59 to give Texas its only 1–2 finish of the night.
Texas earned a runner-up result in the 200 medley relay, clocking a 1:34.69 behind the team of Emma Kern, Piper Enge, Campbell Stoll and Eva Okaro. Sarah Rodrigues, Linsey Hosch, Ella Mongrel and Sienna Schellenger added a fifth-place finish with a 1:38.05. Lastly, Berit Berglund, Avery Collins, Angie Coe and Lucy Mehraban finished ninth in 1:38.18.
The Longhorns added another podium finish in the final event of the session, placing third in the 800 free relay. Eva Okaro, Piper Enge, Emma Kern and Nikolett Padar combined for a 7:00.49. Additionally, Brooke Adams, Campbell Chase, Angie Coe and Haley McDonald placed fifth in 7:04.15.
The Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational will continue Wednesday, Nov. 19, with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
