Women’s Tennis’ Herea advances to NCAA Singles round of 16

With the win, sophomore Carmen Herea qualified as an ITA All-American.
Orlando, Fla. – Texas Women's Tennis sophomore Carmen Herea advanced to the NCAA Singles Championships round of 16 on Wednesday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. In doing so, Herea qualified to be named an ITA All-American when those honors become official at the end of the spring season.
Herea, ranked No. 21 in the pre-fall rankings, defeated Eva Shaw of Florida State, 6-3, 7-5, to move on. She will next face 9-16 seed No. 5 Luciana Perry of Ohio State on Thursday at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT.
The NCAA singles and doubles competition will be conducted November 18-23. This will be the second year the individual championships will be played in the fall after having previously been played in May following the team championships.
