The Longhorns close the Texas Invitational with dominant finals performances across multiple events.
AUSTIN, Texas — No. 1 Men's Swimming closed the final day of the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invite with commanding wins, sweeping the top three spots in the 200 IM and securing titles in the 100 free and 400 free relay.
Texas delivered the most dominant event of the night in the 200 IM, taking five of the top eight places. Baylor Nelson won in 1:40.29, followed by Will Modglin in second at 1:40.58 and Campbell McKean in third with 1:41.06. Nate Germonprez added a fifth-place finish in 1:41.62, while Rex Maurer placed eighth in 1:42.96.
Texas added another strong performance in the 200 butterfly, where Cooper Lucas posted a runner-up finish in 1:40.40, improving from his prelim time of 1:41.27.
In the 200 back, Kyle Peck delivered a strong runner-up finish with a time of 1:40.80, giving Texas another top-two showing on the final night.
Garrett Gould topped the 100-yard freestyle in 42.02, and Calvin Fry recorded a fourth-place finish in 42.49.
Texas capped the meet with a decisive victory in the 400 freestyle relay, touching first in 2:47.40 behind Will Modglin, Gould, Camden Taylor and Jacob Wimberly. The quartet posted the fastest time in the field by nearly two seconds to close out the final day on a high note.
