Texas jumped out to an 8-3 lead following a Jordan Pope jumper at the 18:11 mark, but Chaminade answered with an 8-0 spurt to take an 11-8 advantage after a Nate Sasser III dunk with 14:39 remaining. A pair of Sasser III free throws gave the Silverswords a 13-12 edge at the 13:20 mark, before the Longhorns used a 6-0 run over the next 90 seconds to grab an 18-13 cushion following a Tramon Mark layup with 11:40 left.
A Nathan Medina three-pointer trimmed the margin to 22-18 at the 10:20 mark, before Texas went on an 11-2 run over the next three-and-a-half minutes to increase its cushion to 33-20 after a Vokietaitis three-point play with 6:45 remaining.
