No. 4 Women’s Basketball opens Players Era Championship with 76-65 win over No. 3 UCLA

Rori Harmon leads Texas with 26 points in the victory.
LAS VEGAS – No. 4 Texas women's basketball team led No. 3 UCLA by 20 points at halftime and made clutch plays late to win 76-65 on Wednesday in the first game of the Players Era Championship.
Harmon scored 10 of the Longhorns 14 points in the fourth quarter and finished the game with 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. Harmon dished out five assists as well.
Harmon was one of four Texas players in double figures as Madison Booker scored 16 points, Jordan Lee contributed 13 and Justice Carlton came off the bench to score 10 for the Longhorns. Booker had a complete game as she added seven rebounds and five assists.
The Longhorns shot 19-of-37 (51.4 percent) from the field in the opening half and led UCLA 45-25 at the halftime break. Texas committed just one turnover in the first half and forced 10 UCLA turnovers.
UCLA got within four at 64-60 at the 4:31 mark of the fourth quarter, but Harmon sank a jumper from the free-throw line to put Texas up 66-60. The Bruins got it to four again at 66-62, but Harmon made another jumper to put Texas up 68-62. The Bruins would cut it to four one more time at 68-64, but a pair of Kyla Oldacre free-throws put Texas back up 70-64 and they went on to win by double digits.
Texas head coach Vic Schaefer earned his 150th win at Texas. Schaefer has a record at Texas of 150-36.
The Longhorns will take on No. 2 South Carolina tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. CT in the championship game of the Players Era tournament.

• With the win Texas improved to 6-0 on the season and earned their second ranked win of the season.
• Rori Harmon dished out five assists and is now nine assists from breaking the UT career assist record.
• Harmon had five assists and one turnover and now has 37 assists and five turnovers on the season.
• Texas forced 20 turnovers by UCLA and scored 18 points off turnovers.
• The Longhorns grabbed 12 offensive rebounds and had 16 second chance points.
• The Longhorns knocked down six 3-pointers in the game and limited UCLA to four 3-point field goals.
