Tramon Mark paces six Longhorns in double-figure scoring with a game-high 18 points.
AUSTIN, Texas — Graduate guard Tramon Mark posted a game-high 18 points to lead Texas (8-4) to a convincing 95-53 victory over Le Moyne (5-6) on Tuesday night in Moody Center. The Longhorns had six players in double-figure scoring and limited the Dolphins, who entered the game converting 38.3-percent from three-point range, to an 11.1-percent (2-of-18) mark from beyond the arc in Tuesday's win.
Mark converted 6-of-10 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws while adding three assists without a turnover, three boards, one block and one steal in 27 minutes. Sophomore Matas Vokietaitis recorded his second double-double of the season and third of his career with 16 points (7-10 FG, 2-3 FT) and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes.
Junior Dailyn Swain registered 15 points (7-11 FG), seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in 27 minutes, while senior Jordan Pope reached the 1,500-point mark in his collegiate career with 11 points (3-8 threes) and four assists in 22 minutes. Junior Simeon Wilcher tallied 11 points (3-6 FG, 2-4 threes, 3-4 FT), four boards, three assists and two steals in 23 minutes, and junior Camden Heide added 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 threes) in 23 minutes. Graduate Lassina Traore posted a game-high 11 rebounds (six offensive) in 19 minutes and reached double digits in boards for the 41st time in his collegiate career.
Le Moyne tied the game at 3-3 after a three-point play by Isaac Nyakundi at the 19:10 mark, before the Longhorns used a 10-2 spurt to grab a 13-5 advantage following a Mark layup with 16:34 left. The Dolphins trimmed the margin to 20-15 after a Samuel Hincapie jumper at the 11:19 mark, but Texas responded with an 18-3 run over the next four-and-a-half minutes to increase its cushion to 38-18 following a Wilcher three-pointer with 6:43 remaining. Le Moyne closed the half on a 12-3 spurt to pull to within 41-30 at the break.
Texas began the second half with a 12-2 run over the first 4:35 to build a 53-32 cushion after a pair of Chendall Weaver free throws at the 15:25 mark. The Dolphins cut the deficit to 55-37 following a Trent Mosquera three-point play with 14:32 left, but that was as close as they would get for the remainder of the contest.
Le Moyne pulled to within 64-41 after a Jakai Sanders layup at the 11:09 mark, before the Longhorns responded with a 12-2 spurt over the next three minutes to grab a 76-43 advantage following a Pope three-pointer with 8:10 remaining. The margin grew to 41 points (90-49) after a Declan Duru Jr. layup at the 2:49 mark, and Texas cruised to the finish line.
Texas returns to the court when it hosts Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday, Dec. 22. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. Central in Moody Center, and the game will be streamed nationally by SEC Network+.
