No. 2 Women’s Basketball gets past South Dakota State, 70-51

Longhorns force 23 turnovers and record 13 steals in the victory.
BROOKINGS, S.D. – No. 2 Texas women's basketball team won on the road at South Dakota State, 70-51 on Sunday.
Jordan Lee led Texas with 17 points and knocked down three 3-point field goals. On the defensive end Lee tallied four of the Texas 13 steals. Madison Booker posted 14 points and nine rebounds and Rori Harmon tallied 11 points with seven assists.
Bryanna Preston made her return after being out since Nov. 16, with nine points and four assists.
The Longhorns got out to a quick start on the road and scored the first 12 points of the game, going up 12-0 on a 3-pointer from Jordan Lee. The Texas defense held South Dakota State scoreless until the 4:07 mark of the first quarter.
The Jackrabbits used a 10-3 run and closed out the first quarter trailing by four at 17-13. Texas outscored South Dakota State by five in the second quarter and took a 33-24 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter South Dakota State cut the Texas lead to eight, but Harmon found booker for an elbow jumper to put the Longhorns up 41-31. The Longhorns scored the final six points of the third period to take a 49-34 lead.
At the 6:56 mark of the fourth quarter Bryanna Preston made a strong move to the basket and made the layup and was fouled. Preston made the free-throw to put Texas up 61-40. Later Preston stole the ball and found Jordan Lee in the corner for her third 3-pointer of the game to extend the Texas lead to 66-43. The Longhorns shot 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) from the field in the final quarter of the game.
Up next the Longhorns will host Southeastern Louisiana to conclude non-conference play, Sunday Dec. 28 at 1:00 p.m. CT at Moody Center.

· Texas improves to 14-0 on the season with the victory at South Dakota State.
· The Longhorns are 2-0 all-time against the Jackrabbits.
· Madison Booker scored in double figures for the 13th time in 14 games with 14 points.
· Jordan Lee reached double figures in scoring for the 12th time this season with 17 points.
· Rori Harmon dished out seven assists with one turnover. Over her last five games Harmon has 51 assists and three turnovers.
· The Texas defense forced 23 turnovers and recorded 13 steals in the game. Texas also recorded eight blocked shots, of which Breya Cunningham tallied three.
· The Longhorns have tallied 10 or more steals in 11 games this season.
· The Longhorns outscored South Dakota State 44-22 in paint points and 11-0 on fast break points.
