Women’s Basketball named USBWA National Team of the Week

Longhorns improved to 26-2 with wins at No. 8 Kentucky and vs. No. 5 LSU.
AUSTIN, Texas — For the second straight week and third time this season, The University of Texas women's basketball team has been selected the U.S. Basketball Writers Association National Team of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Over the course of the week Texas went on the road and beat No. 8 Kentucky, 67-49. The Longhorns then returned home and beat No. 5 LSU, 65-58 in front of a sellout crowd at Moody Center.
Texas became the first women's basketball team in 20 years to win three straight games over top-10 opponents, beating No. 2 South Carolina to start the stretch. The Longhorns snapped a 57-game SEC winning streak of the Gamecocks.
Texas has now won 10 straight games since a loss to South Carolina on Jan. 12, their only loss in conference play this season. The Longhorns are 26-2 overall and 12-1 in SEC play on the season.
Texas has won nine games against AP top-25 teams and five games against AP top-10 teams. The Longhorns have the most quad one wins of any program in the country with 13 and are ranked No. 2 in the latest Associated Press poll.
The Longhorns next game is Monday, February 24 at Georgia.
