AUSTIN, Texas — Texas women's basketball head coach Vic Schaefer will once again pledge $10,000 if 10,000 fans show up for the Longhorns regular season home finale vs. Florida on Sunday, March 2 at 1:00 p.m. CT.
Money raised will go to the Neighborhood Longhorns Program. $155,000 was raised in the Longhorns 10K for 10K game last season.
The Neighborhood Longhorns Program is the premier educational outreach program for the University of Texas at Austin offering economically disadvantaged 2nd through 8th graders the opportunity to envision attending college through incentives and scholarships. This is achieved through the involvement of UT students, volunteers and staff that provide tutoring and mentoring in participating Central Texas schools.
The game will be the final regular season home game for Texas and will be senior night. The Longhorns are currently ranked No. 2 in the country by the Associated Press and have an overall record of 26-2 on the season.
Attendance continues to climb in Moody Center's third season. The women's basketball program currently ranks 10th in the country for average attendance per game.
