Women’s Basketball trio earns spots on USBWA National Player of the Year Midseason Top 50

INDIANAPOLIS — Madison Booker, Rori Harmon and Taylor Jones have been producing together on the court this season and earned midseason recognition for it on Monday, as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association named the three players to the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year Midseason Top 50.
Harmon has been one of the top point guards in the country this season. After playing 12 games in the 2023-24 season due to a season-ending knee injury, Harmon is showing why is one of the best players in the country. Harmon ranks third in the country in assist to turnover ratio (3.45), fourth in total assists (152) and seventh in assists per game (6.3).
Earlier this season, Harmon passed 1,000 career points and 600 career assists, becoming only the second player in school history to reach both of those milestones. Harmon joined Terri Mackey (1980-83) on that elite list. Harmon currently ranks second in UT women's basketball history in career assists with 653.
Madison Booker has scored 20 or more points in nine games this season and is shooting 49 percent from the field for the season. Booker is one of two SEC players this season to post multiple games with at least 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. On Sunday at Texas A&M Booker scored 17 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and tallied five assists. Booker, the 2024 Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year, is averaging 16.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
Taylor Jones recently scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games for the Longhorns. Jones tallied 21 points and 14 rebounds to help Texas to a win over No. 17 Tennessee and was later named the SEC Player of the Week. For the season, Jones is shooting 64.2 percent from the field and has scored in double figures in 15 games.
