Women’s Basketball’s Booker named semifinalist for Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year

AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas women's basketball sophomore Madison Booker has been selected a semifinalist for the 2025 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club/Naismith Awards announced on Thursday.
Booker, the 2024 First Team All-American and Cheryl Miller Award winner, was announced as the SEC Player of the Year. This makes back-to-back conference player of the year honors for Booker, who was the 2024 Big 12 Player of the Year as a freshman.
Booker has scored in double figures in 27 games and 20 or more points in 12 games this season. Booker ranks second on the team in rebounding and has seven double-doubles on the season. As an incredibly efficient player, Booker is shooting 45.9 percent from the field on the season, 43.9 percent from 3-point range and 82.9 percent from the free-throw line. In the Longhorns last eight games against ranked opponents, including five wins against top-10 teams, Booker is averaging 20.5 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free-throw line.
Booker helped Texas win a Big 12 Tournament championship as a freshman last year and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. Booker led Texas to a SEC regular season championship this season. The Longhorns have won a regular season or conference tournament championship in each of the last four seasons.
