AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 1/1 Texas women's basketball team beat every team in the Southeastern Conference in their first year in the league as they captured a 72-46 win over Florida on Sunday to earn SEC co-champion honors with South Carolina.
The Longhorns did it on senior day, head coach Vic Schaefer's birthday and in front of their largest crowd of the season at 10,580.
Texas won their 13th straight game and finished the regular season with a record of 29-2 overall and 15-1 in the SEC. The record is their best since the 1987-88 season. Texas finished the regular season 15-0 at home.
Kyla Oldacre led the Longhorns in scoring with 18 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Two other Longhorns added double digits with Madison Booker with 14 and Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda with 11.
Senior Rori Harmon added seven rebounds and nine assists, while fellow senior Taylor Jones added nine points for the Longhorns
The Longhorns forced 23 turnovers to add 21 points to the board. The Texas bench combined for 32 points to propel the Longhorns to a victory.
Texas went on a 15-0 scoring run to close the opening quarter leading, 16-10. The Longhorns held Florida to eight points in the second quarter and went into halftime leading 29-18.
Back-to-back field goals from Oldacre and Booker opened the second half for the Longhorns, 33-18. With a 6-0 run, Texas finished the third quarter leading, 54-31. Posting 18 points in the final quarter, Texas secured the victory, 72-46.
Up next, the Longhorns travel to Greenville, South Carolina for the 2025 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament. The Longhorns will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will play their first game on Friday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
