Longhorns earn second-straight male regional field athlete of the year award.
AUSTIN, Texas – Kelsey Daniel was named the 2025 USTFCCCA South Central Region male field athlete of the year, the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Thursday.
Daniel ended the indoor season winning the men's long jump title at the NCAA meet with a personal best mark of 8.16m (26-9.25). The mark ranks as the Longhorn program record and the Trinidad & Tobago indoor national record. Three of his four jump in Virginia would have won the NCAA title, including his first legal mark of 7.97m.
Daniel also became the first Longhorn male to win the NCAA indoor long jump title.
This award marks the second-straight season the Longhorns were awarded the honor after Leo Neugebauer won it last season and marks the seventh time overall.
