The Cheryl Miller Award recognizes the top small forward in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Texas women's basketball forward Madison Booker has been named 1 of 5 finalists for the Cheryl Miller Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced today.
The Cheryl Miller Award, in its eighth year honors the top small forward in women's Division I women's college basketball. It is named after the three-time Naismith Player of the Year and Class of 1995 Hall of Famer.
Booker, the 2024 Cheryl Miller Award winner, was announced as the SEC Player of the Year on Tuesday. This makes back-to-back conference player of the year honors for Booker, who was the 2024 Big 12 Player of the Year as a freshman.
Booker has scored in double figures in 24 games and 20 or more points in 11 games this season. Booker ranks second on the team in rebounding and has six double-doubles on the season. As an incredibly efficient player, Booker is shooting 46.4 percent from the field on the season, 41.7 percent from 3-point range and 84.6 percent from the free-throw line. In the Longhorns last six games against ranked opponents, including four wins against top-10 teams, Booker is averaging 21.5 points per game.
