The Lisa Leslie Award recognizes the top center in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Texas women's basketball center Taylor Jones has been named 1 of 5 finalists for the Lisa Leslie Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced today.
The Lisa Leslie Award, now in its eighth year, recognizes the top centers in Division I women's college basketball. It is named after the three-time All-American, 1994 National Player of the Year, and Class of 2015 Hall of Famer.
Jones has been a dominant inside presence on both offense and defense for Texas this season. Jones has posted seven double-doubles on the season. In a win at Georgia, Jones tallied 17 points, 16 rebounds and five blocked shots. Jones is shooting 60.3 percent from the field on the season. She leads Texas with 52 blocked shots on the season. Jones has scored in double figures in 20 games this season. In a win against Tennessee Jones tallied 21 points and 14 rebounds.
