SERIES HISTORY:
- This weekend's series will mark the first time Tennessee's softball program has played in Austin since Feb. 19, 2012, when the Longhorns earned a 3-2 victory in nine innings of play.
- The 2012 game remains the only true home game for the Longhorns throughout the 11-game series history against the Volunteers.
- A win on Friday would give Texas its second consecutive win against Tennessee, which would be just the second time the Longhorns have ever won back-to-back games over the Volunteers.
- Texas blanked Tennessee, 2-0, on Mar. 17, 2019 in Knoxville, before beating the Volunteers, again, 11-0, in five innings in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Feb. 14, 2020.
- Friday's game will mark the first time Texas and Tennessee have met for a regular-season softball game in either Austin or Knoxville since March 17, 2019, when the Longhorns won, 2-0, in Knoxville.
- Texas will enter this weekend's series with a 6-5 edge in the series history against Tennessee after taking the last meeting between the two programs, 2-1, on Feb. 16, 2024 in Clearwater, Fla.
- Since taking over at the helm of the Texas softball program prior to the 2019 campaign, seventh-year Longhorn softball head coach Mike White is 3-3 against Tennessee.
- When including his time at Oregon, Coach White is 4-4 all time versus the Volunteers.
- Throughout the 11-game series history between the two programs, the team that has ended the game with more runs than its opponent is 11-0.
LEADING OFF:
- With three more official plate appearances, Mia Scott will join Janae Jefferson as the only Longhorn softball student-athletes with 700-or-more career at bats.
- Jefferson (2018-22) has a program-record 853 career at bats, while Scott currently has 697, which is tied with Brejae Washington (2011-14) for second place on the program's career at bat list.
- By starting in all three games over the weekend, Mia Scott will become just the seventh student-athlete in program history to start in 231-or-more career games during their time on the Forty Acres.
- Janae Jefferson (269), Desiree Williams (247), Taylor Thom (234), Taylor Hoagland (234), Nadia Taylor (234) and Brejae Washington (233) all surpassed the 231-career games started mark at Texas.
- If Texas takes two games throughout the weekend, head coach Mike White will reach the 300-career win milestone as the head coach of the Longhorns.
- Following Wednesday's win over Texas State, Coach White will enter the weekend with a 298-85-2 (.776) record during his seven seasons on the Forty Acres.
- A win over Tennessee on Friday night would push Texas' record to 39-3, which would best the 2006 squad for the best record in program history through a season's first 42 games.
- Both teams started the season 38-3, before the 2006 team dropped a 4-2 result to then-No. 17 Texas A&M on April 5, 2006.
- By successfully reaching base during Friday's game, Reese Atwood will match Joley Mitchell's team-best 23-game on-base streak this season.
- If Atwood successfully finds her way on base in each of the three games, Atwood would push her streak to 25 consecutive games, which would tie Loryn Johnson (March 13 – April 25, 2009) for the fifth-longest on-base streak in program history.
- A potential 25-game on-base streak for Atwood would be the longest by a Longhorn softball student-athlete since Lindsey Stephens reached base in 49 consecutive games from June 2, 2013 to April 27, 2014.
- If Atwood successfully finds her way on base in each of the three games, Atwood would push her streak to 25 consecutive games, which would tie Loryn Johnson (March 13 – April 25, 2009) for the fifth-longest on-base streak in program history.
- Texas will enter this weekend's series with a 16-0 record at Red & Charline McCombs Field this season, which is the best home record to start a season by a Longhorn team since the 2012 squad began its season with campaign with 20 consecutive home wins.
