Women’s Basketball signs Breya Cunningham

AUSTIN, Texas — Breya Cunningham has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play basketball next season at The University of Texas, head coach Vic Schaefer announced on Monday. Cunningham, a transfer from Arizona, will have two years of eligibility.
Cunningham, a 6-4 forward from Chula Vista, Calif., was a Pac-12 All-Freshman Honorable Mention selection in 2023-24 and Big 12 All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree in 2024-25.
Cunningham has been a part of several USA Basketball teams. Cunningham was part of the team with Madison Booker that won gold in the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup. Cunningham also earned gold medals with the 2022 FIBA U17 Women's World Cup and 2021 FIBA Women's U16 Americas Championship.
"I am super excited to announce the addition of Breya Cunningham and her family to our Longhorn family," head coach Vic Schaefer said. "I recruited her two years ago out of high school when she was the No. 2 ranked player in the country in the 2023 class. Breya will bring experience and inside presence, as well as the ability to impact our program immediately. She comes from a wonderful family who I really enjoyed getting to know throughout the recruiting process during our first time around. Her experience at the power five level will enable her to adapt immediately as well as impact our program immediately."
Cunningham averaged 11.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for the 2024-25 season.
Cunningham was fourth in the Big 12 in blocked shots with 56, which was also sixth in Arizona program history for blocked shots in a season.
Cunningham shot 56 percent from the field, the fifth best mark in the Big 12. She grabbed double digit rebounds in six games and recorded four double-doubles on the season. She scored a career-high 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting against BYU.
