AUSTIN, Texas — Lovisa Asbrink Hose has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play basketball next season at The University of Texas, head coach Vic Schaefer announced on Monday.
Asbrink Hose is a 6-6 center from Stockholm, Sweden and played the 2024-25 season at Florida Atlantic University where she played in 22 games and started in five games.
Asbrink Hose was the AAC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 6 and made the AAC Weekly Honorable Mention on March 4.
"Lovisa is a young lady from Sweden who has played one year of collegiate basketball at Florida Atlantic," head coach Vic Schaefer said." "At 6-5/6-6 Lovisa has size as well as the ability to stretch the floor. Her versatility and footwork around the rim as well as her ability to face up and score really bring a unique skill set to our team. Her parents flew here from Sweden to be here on the official visit and like most were very impressed with both our academics as well as our athletic success here. Her best basketball is way ahead of her as she grows accustomed to the college game and playing at this level. She has a very bright future, and we are excited that it will be here at The University of Texas."
Asbrink Hose tied a career-high with eight points, shooting 50 percent from the field while also adding three rebounds against East Carolina. She had a career-high 13 rebounds against Temple.
Asbrink Hose was a member of the U16 and U18 Swedish National teams and played at Lulea Gymnasieskola, the best and most accomplished high school basketball team in Sweden. As a senior she averaged 15.5 points per game while also averaging 9.8 rebounds per game.
