No. 16/12 Track and Field claims four event wins at Cameron Burrell Invitational

Longhorns conclude regular season in Houston.
HOUSTON, Texas - The No. 16/12 Texas Track and Field team ended its regular season at the Cameron Burrell Invitational at the Carl Lewis International Track Complex on Friday. Texas won three throwing events and one running event in its third and final outdoor meet of the season in Houston.
The Longhorns swept the shot put competition after Michael Piñones won the men's event with an outdoor personal-best throw of 18.86m (61-10.5). On the women's side, Chrystal Herpin won with a throw of 17.61m (57-9.50). Senior Meredith Adams won the final field event in the women's discus with a heave of 49.33m (161-10).
On the track, Brighton Mooney won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:41.76. Freshman Kaylin Rendon was the runner-up with a time of 10:51.55, and graduate student Kyra Pretre was third in 10:53.05.
Nigusom Knight also posted a runner-up finish in the 1,500-meters with a time of 3:56.65. The women's race saw Meloday Espinoza record a personal-best time of 4:33.13 to finish third. Natasja Beijen was fourth with PB time of 4:35.86, and Shanya Luna was fifth in 4:35.88.
The women were later led by senior Amity Ebarb in the 800-meters with her personal-best time of 2:06.13 to finish second. Elizabeth Stockman was fourth with a new PB time of 2:08.77. Mackenize Browne (2:11.71), Gia Kurp (2:12.61 - PB), Grace Kowalski (2:14.23) and Aishling Callanan (2:14.81) also competed in the 800m. The men saw Zain Hamdani finish in 1:52.16 and Drew Weber in 1:52.70.
