This weekend, a total of 82 current and former University of Texas student-athletes will celebrate a major milestone as they cross the stage to receive their degrees from The University of Texas at Austin. An additional 35 University of Texas student-athletes earned their degrees in December 2024, making the total number of graduates in the 2024-25 academic year 117. This achievement represents years of commitment both in competition and in the classroom, and we are so proud of our Longhorns for this accomplishment!
Among this year's spring graduates are student-athletes who contributed to multiple Learfield Directors' Cups for Texas Athletics (Texas has won three of the last four), College Football Playoff semifinal runs, a women's basketball Final Four appearance, Men's and Women's College World Series appearances, and National Championships in Volleyball (two), Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Track & Field (Women's T&F won the Outdoor National Championship in 2023 while Men's T&F won the Indoor National Championship in 2022), Men's Golf, and Rowing. Additionally, Luke Hobson of Texas Men's Swimming won silver and bronze medals for the United States this past summer at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Another one of those high-achieving graduates is Mia Scott of Texas Softball, who will earn her degree in Youth & Community Studies on Saturday. As she looks back on her time at Texas, Mia expresses the memories she has made with teammates and the growth she has experienced in her academic endeavors—all while excelling on the field at third base, or any of the other eight positions that Scott recently had the chance to play in her Senior Day game against Kentucky.
Thanks to your generosity, more than 550 student-athletes each year are equipped with the resources and support needed to thrive. Your continued commitment opens doors, fuels success, and helps these young leaders reach their potential and graduate as proud Longhorns.
