Women’s Basketball to host North Carolina in ACC/SEC Challenge

AUSTIN, Texas — For the second time in program history the Texas women's basketball team will play North Carolina as ESPN announced the games today for the third annual ACC/SEC men's and women's basketball challenges.
The Longhorns will host North Carolina on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025 at Moody Center. The two teams have met once, on Jan. 11, 1981 with the Tar Heels winning the game 75-73.
The Longhorns are coming off a historic season in 2024-25 as they won 35 games to set a program record for wins in the NCAA Era. Texas advanced to the Final Four for the first time in 22 years and won the SEC regular season championship in their first season in the league. Madison Booker was named the SEC Player of the Year and an Associated Press First Team All-American. Booker won the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year award for the second straight season. Rori Harmon and Taylor Jones earned WBCA All-America honorable mention honors and Jordan Lee earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team.
The ACC/SEC Men's Challenge will take place over back-to-back days Tuesday, Dec. 2, and Wednesday, Dec. 3, while the ACC/SEC Women's Challenge is slated for Dec. 3 and Thursday, Dec. 4. The Texas men's basketball team will host Virginia on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Moody Center. Both the men's and women's events will be televised across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network and SEC Network.
