Track and Field's Alonzo and Jess named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Longhorns both led distance programs during 2024-25 season.
AUSTIN, Texas – Isaac Alonzo and Eva Jess were recognized by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and were named to the Academic All-District Track and Field/Cross Country teams on Tuesday.
The cross country and distance track runners were recognized as a pair of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the track and in the classroom. The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
To be eligible, student athletes must be at least a sophomore and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA. In addition, track and field athletes must have a top 50 regional ranking in an event, while cross country runners need a top 50 finish at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Alonzo led the Texas men's distance program from the cross country season through outdoor track and field and was the lone Longhorn to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships after finishing seventh at the NCAA South Central Regional. He earned regional honors for finishing in the top 25.
The Lubbock, Texas native was a two-time scorer at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, doubling in the distance events. He was seventh in the 10K with a time of 30:27.54 and was eighth in the 5K in 13:56.61.
Alonzo finished last season earning his Masters in Sport Management and maintained a 4.0 GPA.
On the women's side, Jess dominated her final season as a Longhorn, leading Texas as the top finisher at the NCAA Cross Country meet, was 13th at Cross Country regionals and set two program records. During the indoor campaign, Jess broke a 12-year school record in the 5K with a time of 15:44.48. She later broke her own record in the outdoor 10K with a time of 32:50.28.
Jess earned her degree in Nutrition with a 3.96 GPA.
