Women’s Basketball advances to championship game of Globl Jam with 90-54 win over Brazil

TORONTO – The Texas women's basketball team outscored Brazil 21-8 in the third quarter and knocked down eight 3-pointers for the game as they advanced to the championship game of Globl Jam with a 90-54 win over Brazil on Saturday.
Bryanna Preston led Texas with 22 points and added six assists, five rebounds and four steals. Breya Cunningham scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting and tallied six rebounds and three blocked shots. Jordan Lee (12) and Aaliyah Crump each scored in double figures. Rori Harmon led Texas with eight assists.
After giving up the opening basket to Brazil, Texas erupted for a 10-0 run and led 10-2 on a pull up jumper by Rori Harmon.
The Longhorns connected on five 3-pointers in the first half, with Jordan Lee knocking down a pair of threes in the second quarter.
Freshman Aaliyah Crump made a basket with seven seconds left in the half that put Texas up 42-28 at the break. Crump led all scorers in the first half with nine points on 50 percent shooting from the field.
The Longhorns used a 14-0 run in the third quarter to go up 58-32. A key play came when Harmon dove on the floor got a steal and delivered the ball to Ashton Judd for a layup. Texas outscored Brazil 21-8 in the third quarter to go up 63-36 heading into the final period.
Preston scored the last five points of the third quarter for Texas and opened the fourth quarter with a three-point play to put Texas up 66-36. The Longhorns scored 27 points in the final period for the 90-54 victory.
