AUSTIN, TEXAS – Hip-hop legend Big Boi, one-half of the legendary duo OutKast, returns to the Forty Acres to headline Longhorn City Limits presented by Hollister on Saturday, September 13 prior to Texas Football's intrastate showdown versus the UTEP Miners. Located on the LBJ Lawn, LCL will open at 11 a.m. with special guest The Peterson Brothers hitting the stage at 11:45 a.m. Admission is FREE for Longhorn City Limits concerts all season long.
Big Boi, born Antwan André Patton, has sold more than 25 million records worldwide and earned seven GRAMMY Awards. OutKast's groundbreaking Speakerboxxx/The Love Below remains the only hip-hop album to win the GRAMMY for Album of the Year, achieving Diamond certification and producing timeless hits like "The Way You Move," "Ms. Jackson," "The Whole World", and "So Fresh, So Clean."
In 2010, he launched his solo career with Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and earning widespread critical acclaim, including a place on Pitchfork's "100 Best Albums of the Decade So Far." His 2017 album Boomiverse delivered the fan-favorite single "All Night," which topped radio charts, surpassed 40 million streams, and reached mainstream audiences through an Apple Animoji campaign. Beyond music, Big Boi has expanded his influence through film and television, most recently with the upcoming Hulu series Big RV Remix, and he showcased his enduring star power with his performance during the Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show alongside Maroon 5 and Travis Scott.
"We're thrilled to welcome Big Boi back to the LBJ Lawn for Longhorn City Limits," said Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Lois and Richard Folger Athletics Director. "As one of the most influential artists in hip-hop history, his music continues to inspire generations, and Longhorn Nation is in for a special day at LCL before the Horns take on the Miners."
Kicking off LCL on September 13 is Austin's own The Peterson Brothers. Featuring brothers Glenn Jr. (vocals/guitar) and Alex (GRAMMY Award-winning bassist, vocalist, and violinist), the Peterson Brothers have spent more than a decade captivating audiences with their soulful fusion of funk, blues, jazz, and classic R&B. Inspired by legends like B.B. King, Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Isley Brothers, they've developed an electrifying live show that radiates joy and energy. During their storied career, they have shared the stages with legends including Gary Clark Jr., The Roots, Willie Nelson, B.B. King, and Buddy Guy, carrying Austin's musical spirit to stages nationwide.
Big Boi is scheduled to begin at approximately 1:15 p.m.
