Cross Country preview: Chile Pepper Invitational

Longhorns travel to Fayetteville for the third meet of the season.
AUSTIN, Texas- The Texas cross country program is set to return to action Saturday, October 4th at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The college men's "McDonnell Memorial" 8k will begin at 10:25 a.m, followed by the college women's "Harter's Habanero" 5k scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The women's team aims to defend its 2024 victory at the Invitational.
Senior Elizabeth Pickett is the top returning Longhorn, finishing sixth place with a time of 16:30.2. Sophomore Sydni Wilkins, junior Melody Espinoza, and senior Brighton Mooney also scored points at the 2024 rendition. Graduate transfers Sophie Atkinson, Annie Christie, and Sophia Jacobs-Townsley, and sophomore Grace Kowalski will make their season debuts this weekend.
On the men's side, 2025 marks the first appearance at the Chile Pepper Invitational since the 2019-2020 season. Seniors Tadhg Donnelly and Emmanuel Sgouros will make their season debuts this weekend. The invitational marks the first event this season where all 15 women and 10 men will compete at the same meet.
