Men’s Tennis’ Berkieta advances to ITA Texas Regionals singles semifinals

Freshman Tomasz Berkieta reached the semifinals on Sunday and will play for a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships.
Fort Worth – Texas Men's Tennis freshman No. 88 Tomasz Berkieta advanced to the singles semifinals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth on Sunday.
Berkieta, who was a 9 seed, defeated another 9 seed in No. 122 Georgi Georgiev of SMU, 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-2, to move on. He will next face Niksa Arsic of Texas Tech on Monday at 9 a.m. with the winner becoming a finalist and receiving a bid to the NCAA Singles Championships.
Junior 5 seed No. 43 Oliver Ojakaar also played for a spot in the semifinals but came up short in three sets against 9 seed Ilia Snitari of Texas A&M, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, the 7 seed of Berkieta and sophomore Lucas Marionneau fell to the 2 seed No. 14 Connor Henry Van Schalkwyk and Erik Schiessl of Baylor, 8-5.
