Freshman Tomasz Berkieta reached the singles final on Monday and qualified for a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships.
Fort Worth – Texas Men's Tennis freshman No. 88 Tomasz Berkieta finished as a singles finalist at the ITA Texas Regional Championships in Fort Worth on Monday. In doing so, Berkieta qualified for the NCAA Singles Championships that will be played in November 17-22 in Athens, Ga.
Berkieta, who was a 9 seed, defeated Niksa Arsic of Texas Tech, 6-2, 6-4. With the finalists qualifying for the NCAA singles tournament, the regional final will not be played, however, 9 seed Ilia Snitari of Texas A&M had reached on the other side of the bracket.
Despite that, it marks the fourth-straight year the Longhorns have had a singles finalist in the tournament. Junior Sebastian Eriksson was a finalist in 2026 in another year in which the final was not played, but prior to that, Timo Legout won the title over teammate Jonah Braswell in 2025, and Micah Braswell took the crown the year before that in 2024.
The Longhorns will continue fall play in a series of pro tournaments with the next potential collegiate events being the ITA Central Sectional Championships and the ITA Conference Masters, both of which take place Nov. 5-8.
