No. 3 Women’s Swimming and Diving sweeps No. 5 Indiana and Northwestern

Enge and Cox each record a pair of individual victories in Friday’s tri-meet.
Bloomington, Ind. — No. 3 Texas Women's Swimming and Diving team earned wins over No. 5 Indiana (188-112) and Northwestern (250-50) in a tri-meet on Friday afternoon at the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatics Center.
Eleven Longhorns reached the A qualifying standard for the World Aquatics Swimming Championship during the competition. The three teams competed in the short course meters (25m) format, instead of the normal short course yards, as athletes prepare for the short course World Championship Trials.
Junior Jillian Cox claimed individual wins in the 800 free (8:13.56) and the 400 free (4:02.78) with both times hitting the qualifying mark for the World Championship. Junior Piper Enge earned individual victories in the 100 breast (1:04:63) and the 200 breast (2:24.12) while hitting the standard for Worlds in both events. She also swam the breaststroke leg on the winning 200 medley relay. Freshman Audrey Derivaux qualified for the World Championship in three different events, the 200 fly (2:06.12), 200 back (2:04.07), and 200 IM (2:09.19).
Junior Campbell Chase hit the eligible time for Worlds while winning the 200 IM (2:08.98). Texas also earned the victory in the 400 free relay that featured the quartet of junior Lillie Nesty, senior Erin Gemmell, sophomore Eva Okaro, and sophomore Nikolett Padar (3:31.45). Padar (1:53.29) and Gemmell (1:54.49) added qualifying times for Worlds in the 200 free, while Okara (24.18) posted a qualifying time in the 50 free. Also earning Worlds qualifying times were freshman Sydney Schoeck in the 800 free (8:26.28), sophomore Inez Miller in the 200 free (1:55.36), and both senior Angie Coe (2:07.12) and junior Giulia Zambelli (2:08.58) in the 200 fly.
Junior Alejandra Estudillo claimed wins on both the 3-meter (370.75) and 1-meter boards (336.55).
The Longhorns return to the pool on Friday, Oct. 30, when they travel to Columbia, S.C. to compete against South Carolina.
Meet Highlights
- The 'A' squad of junior Lillie Nesty, junior Piper Enge, freshman Mena Boardman, and sophomore Eva Okaro won the 200 medley in a time of 1:44.33. Nesty's leadoff split of 26.68 earned a B standard qualifying time for Worlds in the 50 back.
- Junior Jillian Cox claimed first in the 800 free with a World Championship eligible time of 8:13.56. Freshman Sydney Schoeck followed placing third, also hitting the worlds standard (8:26.28).
- The trio of sophomore Nikolett Padar, senior Erin Gemmell, and sophomore Inez Miller, placed second (1:53.29), third (1:54.49), and fourth (1:55.36) respectively in the 200 free, with all three qualifying for Worlds.
- Sophomore Sarah Rodrigues finished second in the 100 back (58.24), and freshman Brynn Lavigueur placed third (58.29). Both achieved the B standard for Worlds.
- Enge won the 100 breast with a Worlds qualifying time of 1:04:63.
- Freshman Audrey Derivaux claimed second in the 200 fly (2:06.12), while senior Angie Coe finished third (2:07.12), and junior Giulia Zambelli took fourth (2:08.58). All three hit the Worlds A qualifying standard.
- Okaro placed second in the 50m free, qualifying for the world championship with a time of 24.18. Freshman Mena Boardman followed in third with a Worlds B eligible time of 24.83.
- Gemmell finished second in the 100 free (53.21), while Padar placed third (53.38) and Okaro took fourth (53.45). All three athletes hit the World B standard.
- Derivaux qualified for the World Championship in the 200 back (2:04.07). Rodrigues placed third (2:06.40) and Nesty finished fourth (2:06.60), qualifying them for the B worlds time.
- Enge took the victory in the 200 breast (2:24.12), and junior Campbell Chase placed second (2:25.84). Both achieved the B qualifying standard for Worlds.
- Cox claimed first in the 400 free with a Worlds eligible time of 4:02.78. Miller (4:06.34), Schoeck (4:08.25), and junior Kate Hurst (4:12.99) all hit the B qualifying time.
- Boardman finished second in the 100 fly (58.15), while senior Campbell Stoll placed fourth (58.36) and Zambellii took fifth (58.71). All three achieved the B qualifying standard for Worlds.
- Chase claimed a victory in the 200 IM (2:08.98), and Derivaux came in second (2:09.19). Both achieved the A standard for Worlds. Coe came in third and hit the B Worlds time (2:10.50).
- The 'A' quartet of Gemmell, Okaro, Nesty, and Padar finished first in the 400 free relay (3:31.45)
- In diving action, junior Alejandra Estudillo claimed the victory on the 3-meter board (370.75). Estudillo also won the 1-meter competition (336.55). Senior Bayleigh Cranford placed third on both the 3-meter (310.05) and 1-meter (303.75) boards.
