Women’s Basketball’s Harmon named to Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team

Harmon broke the Texas career steals record this season.
ATLANTA — Rori Harmon, the Texas career steals record holder has been named to the 2026 Naismith Women's College Defensive Player of the Year Presented by MOLECULE Late-Season Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club/Naismith Awards announced on Thursday.
Harmon broke the Texas career steals record this season and has 361 career steals. The previous record of 346 was set in 1980 by Linda Waggoner.
Harmon is on pace to have her highest steals number of her career for a season. She currently has 82 and her previous best is 86 from her freshman year.
Harmon, who also holds the Texas career assist record, is the only player in NCAA DI women's basketball history to reach 1,500 points, 900 assists, 600 rebounds and 350 steals.
