Women’s Basketball’s Madison Booker named finalist for Wooden Award

Booker is a Wooden Award finalist and Wooden All-American for back-to-back seasons.
LOS ANGELES — First Team All-American Madison Booker has been named one of five finalists for the John R. Wooden Award presented by Principal. Booker has also been named one of 10 Wooden All-Americans. The Wooden Award, presented by the Los Angeles Athletic Club goes to the Most Outstanding Women's College Basketball Player in the United States.
Booker has elevated her game in the postseason and has led Texas to a second straight Final Four appearance. Booker, a 2026 First Team AP All-American was named the MVP of the SEC Tournament and the Most Outstanding Player of the Fort Worth 3 Regional.
In the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Booker set a Texas program record for scoring in a single NCAA Tournament game with 40 points. Booker has scored 90 points combined in four NCAA Tournament games and is shooting 58.6 percent from the field. Booker has poured in 732 points for the season, which ranks fourth in Texas program history for single season scoring. Booker is up to fifth on the Texas career scoring list with 1,963 points. Booker is the first player in Texas women's basketball history to reach 1,900 points, 600 rebounds and 400 assists. Booker has scored 228 points in NCAA Tournament play in her career, which ranks second in program history, only behind Clarissa Davis who had 261 points.
Booker is also the first player in NCAA Tournament history with multiple games of 15 points, five rebounds and five assists with zero turnovers.
Booker will be invited to the Wooden Award festivities taking place April 9-10 in Los Angeles,culminating in the announcement of the winner at the 50th Anniversary of the Wooden Awards on April 10 during a live broadcast on ESPNU.
