Austin – No. 1 Texas Men's Tennis earned the No. 2 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Championship field that was announced Monday by the NCAA. The Longhorns will host First and Second Round matches on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, at the Texas Tennis Center.
It marks the fourth-straight year Texas has been a top-three seed, after having been the No. 3 seed last year, No. 2 seed in 2024, and No. 1 seed in 2023. It is also the sixth time in the last seven years the Longhorns have been in the top four after being No. 4 in 2021 and No. 2 in 2019. The tournament was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Texas (24-6) will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (17-4) on Friday, May 1, in the first round at 1 p.m. CT, while No. 32 SMU (19-11) will take on No. 37 Princeton (16-10) earlier that day at 10 a.m. CT. The winners of those matches will play on Saturday, May 2, at 4 p.m. CT.
The Longhorns earned their 34th consecutive bid to the NCAA Championships and their 43rd overall selection since the NCAA bracketed tournament was introduced in 1977. They have compiled an 82-41 (.667) all-time record in the tournament.
Texas hosts the opening rounds of the NCAA Championships for a ninth-straight year and for the 11th time in the last 12 years in which the tournament has been held.
Along with winning the 2019 National Championship, the Longhorns were the national runners-up in 2008 and 2024, and additionally made it to the semifinals in 1993, 2006, 2009, 2021, 2023 and 2025. They have reached at least the round of 16 in each of the last 11 years with six quarterfinals appearances in 2014, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025 in that span.
