No. 2/3 Track & Field trio earn SEC Athlete of the Week honors

Kendrick Smallwood, Tabea Eitel and Abigail Wolfe earn weekly SEC accolades following standout Texas Relays performances.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2/3 Texas Track & Field's Kendrick Smallwood, Tabea Eitel and Abigail Wolfe were recognized with SEC Athlete of the Week honors after standout performances at the Texas Relays, the conference office announced Tuesday. These mark the first weekly SEC honors of the 2026 outdoor season for the Longhorns' 2nd-ranked men and 3rd-ranked women.
Smallwood claimed Men's Co-Runner of the Week after winning the 110-meter hurdles in 13.16 seconds (+2.7), the No. 1 time in the nation and the SEC this season. He also ran the top prelim time at 13.24 and helped Texas' 4x100 relay place third in 39.10, the No. 12 time in the nation and No. 5 in the SEC. He now holds the 12 fastest 110mH times in program history. It is the second weekly SEC honor of Smallwood's career.
Eitel earned Women's Co-Field Athlete of the Week honors as the top collegiate finisher in the heptathlon with a career-best 5,648 points, also the No. 1 mark nationally and in the SEC. Her performance moved her to third on Texas' all-time performers list and included career highs in the javelin, 200 meters, shot put and 100-meter hurdles.
Wolfe received Women's Co-Freshman of the Week recognition after posting the No. 2 100-meter time in the nation and SEC this season with an 11.01 (+2.8) in the prelims. She helped Texas win the 4x100 relay in 43.19 following a 43.14 prelim effort, ranking No. 7 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC, and contributed to a 4x400 runner-up finish in 3:37.66.
The Longhorns are back in action this weekend as a small contingent will travel to Texas A&M for the 44 Farms Team Invitational on Saturday, April 11.
