Track & Field's Smallwood earns bronze at USATF Outdoor Championships

Longhorns and Texas Exes record podium finishes and national titles across the United States and Europe.
NEW YORK – Texas Track & Field's Kendrick Smallwood earned a bronze medal in the men's 110-meter hurdles at the 2026 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships on Sunday at Icahn Stadium, highlighting a weekend of strong performances by current and former Longhorns at national championships across the United States and Europe.
Smallwood clocked a time of 13.11 seconds in the final to finish third after winning the third preliminary heat earlier in the day in 13.15 to earn the automatic qualifier.
Also competing at the USATF Outdoor Championships, Giavonna Meeks placed eighth in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 66.38 meters (217-9), recorded on her second attempt of the competition. Bayleigh Minor finished 14th in the women's 400 meters after posting a first-round time of 53.43.
At the French Elite Athletics Championships at Municipal Stadium in Albi, France, Mathis Vaitulukina captured the silver medal in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.72 meters. Jeanne Le Goff placed seventh in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.67 meters, while Waly Bathily finished eighth in the men's 400 meters with a personal-best time of 45.71. Bathily entered the meet after winning the French U23 national title in the 400 meters on July 17 in 46.42.
At the German National Championships at Lohrheidestadion in Wattenscheid, Germany, Anouk Krause-Jentsch placed fifth in the women's 400 meters with a time of 57.52, and Holly Okuku finished fifth in the women's 200 meters in 23.27.
Former Longhorns also enjoyed success over the weekend.
Tara Davis-Woodhall collected a pair of bronze medals at the USATF Outdoor Championships, placing third in the women's long jump with a mark of 6.90 meters (22-7 3/4) before earning bronze in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 12.57. She advanced to the final after recording the sixth-fastest qualifying time of 12.82 in the preliminary round.
Steffin McCarter also earned bronze at the USATF Outdoor Championships, placing third in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.97 meters.
Competing at the 123.ie National Senior Track & Field Championships at Morton Stadium in Santry, Dublin, Ireland, Rhasidat Adeleke captured the women's 200-meter title in 22.80, securing a place at the European Athletics Championships after eclipsing the qualifying standard of 22.85.
