Women’s Tennis’ Ngijol-Carré advances in ITA All-Americans prequalifying

Sophomore Mathilde Ngijol-Carré captured her singles prequalifying match on Saturday in Cary, N.C.
Cary, N.C. – Texas Women's Tennis sophomore Mathilde Ngijol-Carré captured her singles prequalifying match at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday in Cary N.C.
Ngijol-Carré topped 21 seed Alyson Shannon of Tennessee in three sets, 0-6, 6-4, 6-1, and will next face Tess Bucher of Illinois at 9 a.m. ET/8 a.m. CT on Sunday.
Junior Salma Drugdova also played on Saturday but fell to 13 seed Tegan Bush of LSU, 6-4, 6-2. Drugdova will move to the consolation bracket and take on Alana Boyce of North Carolina at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT.
Ngijol-Carré and Drugdova played together in doubles on Saturday, but dropped their match against Joanna Kennedy and MaryBoyce Deatherage of Florida State in a superbreaker, 7-5, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (8). They will also go to the consolation bracket and play 9 seed Cayetana Gay and Cristina Ramos Sierra of TCU at 4:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. CT on Sunday.
Qualifying play begins Monday, Sept. 21, followed by the main draw on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
