Women’s Tennis’ Ngijol-Carré reaches third round of ITA All-Americans prequalifying

Sophomore Mathilde Ngijol-Carré won her second-round match, but fell in the third round in Cary, N.C.
Cary, N.C. – Texas Women's Tennis sophomore Mathilde Ngijol-Carré won her second-round prequalifying match, but fell in the third round at the ITA All-American Championships on Sunday in Cary N.C.
Ngijol-Carré downed Tess Bucher of Illinois, 7-5, 6-4, to start the day, but later was downed by Bella Payne of Georgia, 6-1, 6-3.
Junior Salma Drugdova also played on Sunday in the consolation bracket and topped Alana Boyce of North Carolina, 6-3, 6-1.
Three Longhorns will compete in the main draws of singles and doubles that begin on Wednesday, Sept. 23, including juniors No. 2 Carmen Herea, No. 35 Eszter Meri and No. 26 Rose Marie Nijkamp in singles, while the No. 17 duo of Herea and Nijkamp will participate in doubles.
