Women’s Tennis advances to singles round of 16, doubles quarterfinals at ITA All-Americans

Rose Marie Nijkamp will represent the Longhorns in the singles round of 16, while Nijkamp and Carmen Herea will do so in the doubles quarterfinals.
Cary, N.C. – Texas Women's Tennis junior Rose Marie Nijkamp advanced to the singles round of 16 and to the doubles quarterfinals with junior Carmen Herea at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., on Thursday.
No. 26 Nijkamp, who is the 16 seed, defeated No. 109 Salakthip Ounmang of Oklahoma, 6-0, 6-3, in the round of 32 and will next face No. 53 Zuzanna Kubacha of Baylor at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT on Friday.
Later on Thursday in doubles, the No. 17 duo of Nijkamp and Herea topped 7 seed No. 13 Caroline McGinley and Amelie Van Impe of SMU by a similar score of 6-1, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals where they will take on No. 34 Lexington Reed and Kristina Paskauskas of Texas A&M at 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT on Friday.
In the Longhorns' other two singles matches on Thursday, 1 seed No. 2 Herea fell in three sets in her contest against No. 81 Mimi Xu of Duke, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, while junior Eszter Meri was later downed in her consolation match, 7-5, 6-1, by No. 116 Olivia Traynor of Michigan.
