Women’s Tennis closes ITA All-Americans with semifinals appearances

Junior Rose Marie Nijkamp reached the semifinals in singles, while Nijkamp and junior Carmen Herea did the same in doubles.
Cary, N.C. – Texas Women's Tennis closed its run at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday with semifinals appearances in both the singles and doubles semifinals.
Junior Rose Marie Nijkamp advanced to the singles semifinals and paired with junior Carmen Herea to do the same in doubles.
No. 26 Nijkamp, who was the 16 seed, won her first set and led, 4-3, in the second against 2 seed #3 Luciana Perry of Ohio State, but Perry rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win.
Later in the day in doubles, the No. 17 duo of Nijkamp and Herea were downed in doubles by the 6 seed No. 8 Maddy Zampardo and Susanna Maltby of North Carolina, 6-1, 6-2.
The Longhorns' next collegiate event will be the ITA Texas Regional Championships, which will be held in Waco from October 8-12.
