Longhorns Sports Medicine Camp
The Longhorns Sports Medicine Camp provides an invaluable experience for students interested in pursuing a career in sports medicine. Attendees receive a comprehensive overview of many aspects of the athletic training profession. In addition to expanding their knowledge about athletic training, campers are also given the opportunity to experience the University of Texas atmosphere, one of the nation’s leaders in athletics and sports medicine. St. David's Health Care
The University of Texas at Austin (UT) Division of Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and St. David’s HealthCare -- a six-hospital healthcare system in Central Texas -- work together to support the healthcare needs of UT student-athletes. Through this unique partnership, we ensure a healthcare approach that is coherent, organized, committed and consistent with the needs of student-athletes, and we provide high-quality onsite medical coverage for our patrons at all home athletic events. Among the services provided by St. David’s HealthCare are:
- Cardiac screenings for all of the university’s incoming student-athletes
- Embedded clinical staff members within UT Athletics sports medicine/athletics training staff area to assist the head team physician in healthcare delivery service for student-athletes
- Renovated first-aid rooms at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium; Mike A. Myers Stadium; and, UFCU Disch-Falk Field
- On-site medical support at all UT home athletics events, provided by more than 80 medical personnel, including board-certified emergency physicians, at home football games
The health and safety of our student-athletes and fans are our top priorities. Our partnership with St. David’s HealthCare provides additional medical support for our sports medicine staff, team physicians and athletics trainers in caring for our student-athletes and helps us provide a safe, comfortable atmosphere for fans at all of our home athletic events.
