Big, physical and athletic cornerback who had the ability to shut down the opposition's top receiver or come up and make a big hit in run support ... played in 49 career games, with 41 starting assignments, including three bowl games (1999 Cotton Bowl; 2000-01 Holiday Bowls) ... unanimous consensus All-American ... Started all 12 games, including the Holiday Bowl ... first-team All-Big 12 selection ... shared the team's Outstanding Defensive Back Award ... led the team with 20 pass breakups (was No. 3 on UT's single-season chart) and was second on the squad with three interceptions ... also registered 43 tackles (34 solo), a QB pressure and tied for the team lead with four forced fumbles ... recorded three stops and a forced fumble on the Longhorns' punt coverage unit ... helped lead the Texas defense to its NCAA-leading 88.3 pass efficiency rating ... led a secondary that held opponents to just eight TD passes (second-lowest nationally) and 5.36 yards per pass attempt (third-lowest nationally) ... recorded five stops, a QB pressure and three PBUs against Oklahoma State... had five tackles and three PBUs at Colorado, as the Longhorns limited the Buffs to just 78 passing yards, 165 yards below their average ... held Houston's Brian Robinson, the nation's leading receiver at the time, without a catch and earned UT's Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for his efforts on defense (four tackles, two PBUs, one forced fumble) and special teams (forced fumble) ... also was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week following the Houston contest ... named Texas' Defensive Player of the Week after registering three tackles, two interceptions and a sack against Baylor ... had a season-high six tackles and forced a fumble at Texas Tech ... registered four tackles, an interception and three PBUs against No. 22 Texas A&M ... posted six tackles (five solo), two TFLs and two PBUs against No. 8 Oregon in the Holiday Bowl ... limited Oregon's big-play receiver, Marshaun Tucker (50 rec., 871 yds., 6 TDs), to just one reception for 11 yards in the Holiday Bowl.
JUNIOR (1999)
Started the opener at free safety ... suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the first game against North Carolina State ... had three tackles and caused a fumble in that game ... underwent shoulder surgery and was granted a medical redshirt year.
SOPHOMORE (1998)
Started all 12 games, including the Cotton Bowl, at free safety ... tabbed UT's Outstanding Defensive Back ... shared the team lead with two INTs ... ranked second on the team with 81 tackles ... ranked first on the squad with 59 solo stops ... third on the team with two fumble recoveries ... recorded a career-high 12 tackles at No. 6 UCLA ... also registered his first career interception in that game ... led team with 12 PBUs and three caused fumbles ... recorded his first career sack and picked off a pass vs. Oklahoma ... posted three 10-tackle games (second-most on the team) ... registered 10 stops against No. 5 Kansas St. and Iowa St. ... had three PBUs at Texas Tech.
