AS A FRESHMAN IN 2016-17:
Played in 33 games (5 starts) … averaged 3.7 points in 16.4 minutes per game … had 10 points (4-7 FG) and 2 assists without a turnover in a career-high 32 minutes in the season opener against Incarnate Word (Nov. 11) … posted 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-6 threes) in 24 minutes against Alabama (Dec. 2) … made his first collegiate start against No. 10/9 West Virginia (Jan. 14) and had 8 points (2-4 threes, 2-2 FT) in 22 minutes … tied his career high with 3 assists against just 1 turnover in 14 minutes at TCU (Feb. 4) … registered 5 points (2-2 FG, 1-1 threes) in 13 minutes against No. 3/3 Kansas (Feb. 25) … had a career-high 14 points (5-12 FG, career-best 4-9 threes) and 3 rebounds in 20 minutes at Texas Tech (March 1)

Full name is Jacob Mikkeal Young … born Sept. 21, 1997 in Houston … son of Michael and Tina Young … father played basketball at the University of Houston (1980-84) and was part of the school’s legendary “Phi Slama Jama” teams … Michael still ranks third in career scoring in University of Houston history and is one of five players to have his jersey retired by the school … has two older brothers, Michael Jr. and Joe, one older sister, Mayorca, and one younger sister, Milan… Joe played at the University of Houston (2011-13) and the University of Oregon (2013-15) and is beginning his third season with the NBA’s Indiana Pacers … interested in majoring in Sport Management.
