Nick Beaty, a former graduate assistant coach and three-time team captain at Michigan, was named assistant coach for Texas Men's Tennis in August of 2023.
Beaty was a five-year letterman during his time at U-M from 2017-22, including being named captain for the last three seasons. He then was a graduate assistant coach for the 2022-23 year, along with working as a private coach.
During his collegiate playing career, he achieved a high singles ranking of No. 93 in 2021, and a high doubles ranking of No. 65 in 2022. He finished with a 63-23 career record in singles, playing primarily at Nos. 5 and 6, along with a 52-23 mark in doubles, playing mostly at Nos. 2 and 3. In his final season as a graduate student, he posted a 19-10 overall record in singles, including 13-5 in dual matches, and a 25-5 overall record in doubles with a 20-2 mark in dual matches, including 7-0 in Big Ten play. Over his last three season combined, he registered dual match records of 38-10 in singles and 34-8 in doubles.
Beaty helped lead the 2020 Michigan team to its highest NCAA final ranking in program history at No. 3. The 2021 and 2022 teams then won back-to-back Big Ten titles, while the 2022 squad also reached the Elite Eight and closed with a No. 8 ranking.
A four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree (2018, '20-22), Beaty was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award winner in 2021, and also earned the conference's Sportsmanship Award that year. A native of Wayzata, Minn., he earned a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in English, and a master's in social work from Michigan.
