On Sept. 9, 2021, Texas head softball coach Mike White announced the hiring of Nicole Parnell to serve as the Longhorns Volunteer Assistant Coach.
Parnell previously served as a Player Development Coordinator for Texas Blaze Fastpitch, working primarily with Texas Blaze United’s 14U, 16U, and 18U national teams and their prospective collegiate players.
Parnell also ran her own business as a slapping and outfield specialist in which she hosted lessons, clinics and team consultations. She was an intern at HitForth, a tech-centric, movement analysis and exclusive membership baseball hitting facility in Austin, Texas, where her primary duties were to assess and work with baseball players while developing experience in using HitTrax, Blast Motion, K-Vest, movement screening and Driveline Traq.
Parnell served two seasons as a graduate assistant softball coach at Hardin-Simmons University (NCAA-DIII) from 2018-2020. During her stint at HSU, she was in charge of directing outfielders, slappers, baserunning and analytics. She was part of a staff that took Hardin-Simmons from a 1-37 overall mark in 2018 to a 21-23 record in 2019. That 2019 campaign included a top-four regular-season league finish as well as a third-place finish at the 2019 American Southwest Conference (ASC) Tournament as the HSU coaching staff earned ASC Co-Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Parnell played softball at both St. Edward's University and Texas Woman's University, where she combined to start over 157 games as an outfielder. During her senior season in 2017, TWU won the NCAA South Central Regional Championship and advanced to a NCAA Super Regional.
A native of Austin, Texas, Parnell graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in June 2020 with a master’s in Sport Business. She previously graduated from Texas Woman’s University in May 2018 with a bachelor’s in marketing and a minor in business administration.
