Caroline King is in her 15th year as an assistant coach and 16th season overall with the Longhorn program. The 2013-14 season marks her 14th year coaching the novice squad. In 1998-99, King was a volunteer assistant coach.
She was named the South Regional Assistant Coach of the Year by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) in 2005-06 and again in 2010-11.
King plays a crucial role in recruiting walk-ons from campus and developing the rowers so they can advance to the varsity squad. She has been responsible for guiding more than 125 novices to the varsity team during her career at Texas.
Her previous collegiate coaching experience was as an assistant coach at Boston College (1997-98), where she worked with both the Eagles' varsity and novice rowing teams.
An experienced and accomplished rower, King participated in the 1996 and 1997 U.S. Rowing Association Lightweight Women's Development Camp. She also won medals at numerous summer regattas, including the U.S. Elite Nationals, American Club Championships and the Royal Canadian Henley.
A cum laude graduate of the University of Florida in 1996 with a B.A. in English composition and a minor in African studies, King rowed for the Gators club team from 1993-96. She captained the team in 1994-95 and earned Most Valuable Rower honors in 1995. King and her husband, Jeff, reside in Austin.
